Vidar was adopted when he was three. He doesn't remember, or know anything, about his birth parents. His adopted family was an older couple, in their late 30s, that had failed to have their own children so decided to adopt. His parents cared for him as if he was their birth child. It wasn't until he was a young adult that he learned he was adopted. It didn't change his relationship with his parents at all. They had always been supportive of him and he saw no reason to be upset that they didn't tell him. He has no desire to find or meet his birth parents.

Vidar's father is retired now, retiring early, because his mother is a successful lawyer.
